Diana has so far devoted herself to education and research combined with professional career in higher education. Based on her educational background in International trade and development obtained at Korea University (Seoul, South Korea) and an online degree in International Relations from InstitutfürEuropäischePolitik (IEP) and Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE) (Berlin, Germany), Diana Usmanova has developed several research interest areas covering both developed and developing regions. Trade and industrial policies, regionalism, and the role of the state and various institutions in economic development are presently of primary interest to Diana Usmanova.
